On January 28, 2016 a very special young lady gained her wings, Ariel Sharee
Backstrom. She was a sophomore at Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa, AL,
where she enjoyed being a majorette, taking Honors and AP classes while
attending The University of Alabama in the Early College program. Before her
departure she joined Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) with the
goal of becoming an obstetrician.
Ariel was born on February 06, 2000 in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Pine
Forest School of the Arts in Jacksonville, FL, Greenwood Christian School in
Greenwood, SC and as a member of the Lakewood Church in Houston, TX, she
was a devoted part of the children’s ministry and choir. Ariel was also a part of the
Jaguar volleyball team at Rock Quarry Middle School and the Southern Strutters
Twirl Team in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Ariel’s other interest were swimming, cooking, singing, and various arts & crafts.
Her most memorable characteristics included her warm heart, loving kindness,
beautiful smile and expressive eyes. Known for her friendly demeanor, she had a
huge heart and touched many lives. She was truly a ray of sunshine.
